Core One Mortgage Loan Officers

Steve Smith is the owner and Broker in Charge of Core One Mortgage.  He also owns and operates Core One Properties and Charleston Sport Fishing Charters, LLC.  He is a graduate of the Indiana University of PA. 

Steve relocated to Charleston in 2004 after an extensive career in Sales and Marketing management in Fortune 100 and smaller companies.  His experience includes Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Fisher Scientific Company, a $3.2 billion corporation serving customers in the scientific, government, education and industrial markets.  He was also Vice President of Marketing and Product Management for Figgie International in Los Angeles CA, and a Product Manager for National Mine Service Company in Pittsburgh PA.

Steve is an avid golfer, and loves inshore and offshore fishing.  Aside from his business and sports interests, he is an active participant in the Charleston community including 2 terms as President of the Daniel Island Business Association and the Charleston Trident Education Advisory Board.  Contact Steve

Mike Martinal is a Senior Loan Officer with Core One Mortgage.  Born in Texas, Mr. Martinal attended college at University of Miami and the University of Texas, Arlington where he majored in Business Real Estate and minored in Music.  He is responsible for business development, loan production and training of the loan staff and has over 11 years of proven sales and customer relations experience.  He has an extensive client referral base and specializes in residential purchases and refinances, conforming loans, second home, condominium, investment and commercial loans, as well as FHA, VA and USDA financing. He was awarded top unit producer for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in New Mexico and Myrtle Beach, SC where he also specialized in property development and project financing. 

Before diving into the mortgage financing world, Mr. Martinal was a general manager in the manufactured housing industry where he was a top producer as well.  Mike, his wife Tishala, a local theater star, and two sons, McKenna and Malachi reside in Summerville area. When Mike is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, singing in church, watching football, diving and the beach.  Contact Mike
